It's about time!

....I have neglected my blog (and most home projects) for the past six months!!   I have good news and bad news.  The good news?!?!  I have completed some projects around the house!  Yay!!!  The bad news......I've had so much spare time to complete these projects because I was laid off from work almost two months ago (wow time flies when you're having fun).

My house was  also in danger of burning down over the Easter weekend, no I didn't drink too much and get carried away!  There was a wild fire, and it surrounded my house.

Standing near my garage.

At the end of my driveway (the red mailbox is mine).
This is when we were being evacuated.

The last look before we left our street.

The backyard after we were allowed to come back.  See the fireman
way back there behind the swing set?  The grass was still on fire under the
slide.  The firefighters were AMAZING!!!

And here is a sneak peak of one of the home projects I've been working on.....

I will post before and after pictures once complete (don't worry, I'm almost done).

I've been so busy lately. I just can't seem to keep up with my posts. But as I promised (probably last year), here are some pictures of my house painted "Austere Grey" by Sherwin Williams. I was so glad when I finally decided on this color. The side of my house was 5 different shade squares of green. They all looked so minty when I got home, I hated them!

......And, I painted the trim twice.  I thought the first color would grow on me, but it didn't.  I left it "Wool Skeiv" for about a month.  Then decided to change it to "Divine White" on a VERY hot and humid afternoon.  I just couldn't stand it anymore, I was disgusted every time I pulled in the driveway.

Obviously I still have a LOT of landscaping to do, but it's been in the mid ninety's here (feels like 100+ with humidity), so that'll have to wait until October-ish.

Keep your eyes open for the Laundry Room re-do/organization......I know, you just can't wait, so suspenseful!

My House

I am FINALLY posting pictures of the house before I purchased it (closed January 2011). It is now painted a different color, and there have been some landscaping changes. I will post pictures of my house as it is now when I have time to take some good ones (it's been raining here every day).

GIVEAWAY and update!

Red Hen Home is having another GIVEAWAY!!!  She is offering one hand-painted 24” x 7” beadboard sign.  Click on the link and check it out.

I know I've been neglecting my blog posts, but I have a good excuse.  Well, I think it's good anyways.  I work full time, I go to school at night, and I have a 4-year old "helping" me with my projects around the house.  And although my To-Do List is getting shorter, it's also getting longer.....does that make sense?  I promise to post pictures soon, so you can at least see what my house looks like!

I will also be up-dating my side bar projects.

From House Hunting Nightmare to Renovating Disaster!

I know I've really been slacking on my blog the past few months, but I have been so busy!  Since my last post I finished installing my wood floors, and un-installed my wood floors.  In the last week of April, I came home to a flooded house.  The toilet supply line in the master bathroom had busted......I wasn't at the house for 5 days, so I really don't know how long the water was running for.  Enough to ruin all the time and hard work I put into the house the four months prior to.

I ended up hiring someone to re-paint the walls, to install new wood floors, and to install the tile and baseboards.  I didn't want to do it again.  And of course the drywall and insulation had to be replaced, because there was mold growth near the front door.  I moved in sometime in June/July (is it bad that I don't even remember the date?)  The house is still a work in progress, but then again what house isn't?

My kitchen cabinets have been painted, now I just need to paint the counter-tops.  I hope they turn out as well as the cabinets did, I LOVE THEM!  I finally decided on the entertainment center, and yes, it was in the living room when the house flooded, but it survived somehow.  I will post pictures soon, I promise.  I was without a computer for a while.

Decisions, Decisions!

I haven't had much free time to upload any pictures of the progress on my house, if that's what you want to call it.  I've been so busy lately with other things that I haven't had much time to work on the house.  I've torn out all of the pre-existing flooring (carpet, wood, ceramic tile), primed the whole house, painted one bedroom, and most of the ceilings.  All of the old ceiling fans and lighting fixtures have been taken down, my refrigerator was delivered two weeks ago, and some good friends of mine cut two dead pine trees down in my front yard.  That's all that's been done in the past month.

Today's decision.......which entertainment center to go with?  I have two options:

Or

There's only a $37.00 difference.  I won't tell you which one is the more expensive one, so as not to steer your deciding factor in the cheaper direction.
